Things to do in Toronto
Toronto is the largest city in Canada, so it comes as no surprise that it’s a bustling, cosmopolitan and multicultural destination, with seemingly endless opportunities for arts, culture and entertainment. Toronto is home to: the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Toronto, the National Ballet of Canada, the Canadian Opera Company, the Royal Conservatory of Music, plus many art galleries, theatres and venues. 6 professional sports teams call Toronto home, including the Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays.
There’s never a dull moment in Toronto, with festivals throughout the year: the Canadian Stage Company puts on an outdoor Shakespeare production in High Park every summer; Toronto International Film Festival (Toronto, along with Vancouver, is known as Hollywood North, because of the huge number of film locations and movie studios, not to mention TV stations – here you’ll find Canada’s Walk of Fame, with stars along King Street and Simcoe Street); Caribana Festival has been held annually since 1967 and attracts 1 million visitors every year; in late June, Pride Week takes place and is one of the world’s biggest LGBTQ festivals! However, if crowds aren’t your thing, you can always escape the city and take in the magnificent beauty of Lake Ontario.

Toronto has cultural experiences available to everyone and children are fully catered to. You’ll find innovative family-centric activities on Sundays at the Art Gallery of Ontario, several museums, the hockey hall of fame, and the Young People’s Theatre, to name but a few. The Ontario Science Centre has extensive programming for children and, for the thrill-seekers in your family, Canada’s Wonderland amusement park might be just the thing. Along with all this, there are farms to visit, islands to hop, and even a castle to storm at Casa Loma.
Dog-friendly activities to do in Toronto
